Hello parents and students!
I am very excited to be teaching at Larchmont, getting to know all of you and sharing my love of science!
Before Larchmont, I spent 3 years as a 7th grade Life Science teacher in South Los Angeles. I learned alongside some amazing educators, including 5 teacher of the year winners! We collaborated in the classroom and out, creating a native plant garden, book exchange and an environmental fair.
As far as my own education, I received my bachelors degree from UC Santa Cruz in Environmental Science and Biology (I am definitely a science nerd)! I then attended UCLA receiving my masters degree and credential in 2010. Currently I am working towards my second masters degree in administration at Cal State Los Angeles.
I really embrace all that is evolving in education right now; project based, problem based, common core, next gen, hands on, constructivist learning. This is what is fun about science, getting to learn through experiments, trial and error, examining real world problems and getting to be creative with solutions. I can't wait to see what you all come up with! In my free time I like to garden, hike and camp, cook delicious meals, read and create art!
Please come by my classroom any time to see what mischief the mad scientists are creating!
